March 16, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1.
Sagem (a French cell phone vendor) is restarting cooperation with Microsoft and is about to show - at the CeBIT trade show (that starts this week on Thursday) - a cell phone powered by Microsoft smartphone 2003. Why restarting? Because Sagem already previously was one of the first vendors producing Microsoft powered cell phones - the Sagem WA 3050, that is powered by Pocket PC operating system, was on sale alread a couple of years ago. Here is some information about the new Sagem smartphone powered by Microsoft Smartphone 2003 software:
- target market: low end customers, rather than business users - low price compared to other smartphones (!)
- cellular: GSM tri-band (GSM900/GSM1800/GSM1900) and GPRS
- processor: Intel XScale 200 MHz
- RAM memory: 32 MB
- camera with VGA resolution
- camera sensor: CMOS (not CCD)
- video-recording in MPEG4 format
- typical for MS Smartphone phones: 176x220 display with 64 thousands of colors
- no built-in Java
- support for ring tones in formats MIDI, WAV, MP3, WMA
- the phone will be manufactured for Sagem by Taiwanese corporation Mitac (maker of MIo 8380 and Mio 8390 smartphones)
