CeBIT 2004: fiddling with Motorola MPx100 March 21, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1. Well, Motorola MPx100 is nothing new to us - the Vice President of Motorola showed it to us personally at 3GSM congress in France, as you can see here, so this time, at CeBIT, we were not very excited about this phone because we already know it! So instead we decided just to play a little bit with this phone without a purpose... Firstly we have switched the phone off and then on again. Similar experiment with Sagem (as you can see here) revealed that new Sagemīs smartphone is made in fact by Mitac! Here there were no surprises: it is real Motorola! The image that appeared was at the beginning the "Hello Moto" logo with some background picture, as you can see here:
... but then, after a short moment, the keypad of the Motorola MPx100 lighted and the "Windows Mobile" logo appeared:
Then after some time we could see the regular home screen of a Microsoft smartphone:
... where immediately our attention turned to Bluetooth symbol in the title bar. Yes, this smartphone has built-in Bluetooth! Not like Motorola MPx200... and unlike Motorola MPx200 is runs new operating system - the Smartphone 2003:
... and you can notice that it offers over 26 MB of free internal memory (not counting SD memory cards), which is pretty much compared to about 16 MB offered by other models by now. Here you can see applications in the Motorola MPx100:
... where you can notice "Camera Preview" application, that indicates that this phone has built-in camera! (it is 1.3 megapixel camera in fact) We couldnīt test camera though, because the phone was mounted on the stand, and we couldnīt turn it around to play with camera. Remember that Motorola adds its own Bluetooth profiles (incluing Handsfree HF profile that is missing in Orange SPV e200, even after latest update), so this Motorola MPx100 smartphone can truly be a big hit...
