CeBIT 2004 news: Microsoft at CeBIT March 21, 2004 [General] | By anonymous 1. Microsoft had several stands at CeBIT, two biggest of them in halls 1 and 4. Windows Mobile however constituted only tiny part of these stands. Actually Windows Mobile was presented only on these 2 tables (the same that Microsoft used at CeBIT last year):
Apart from that German Windows Mobile online shop - handit.de - was presenting, at the stand of Microsoft, "closets with Windows Mobile devices and accessories", one of them was on the stand in hall 4:
... where you can observe, by the way, Stephan Schmidt from handit.de (initially we have confused him with another "Stephan Schmidt" who also works for handit.de but also is a webmaster of smartphone2002.info website; we apologize for the confusion!) Here is another look at "2 tables + 1 closet" area of Windows Mobile at CeBIT:
The car in the picture above was present at Microsoft´s stand for the sake of "embedded Windows CE .NET" presentation (Windows automotive) and had nothing to do with Windows Mobile... Apart from that, in hall 1, also within area of Microsoft´s stand, there was a second place with Windows Mobile gadgetry - also from handit.de :
... and that´s it! There was nothing more interesting about Windows Mobile. On one hand CeBIT is a general trade show - not only about cell phones or PDAs, but on the other hand Windows Mobile still constitutes extremely tiny part of Microsoft´s reveneues (below 1 percent)... Microsoft´s marketing efforts at CeBIT 2004 were concentrating on marketing of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software:
.. and on presenting Microsoft office, Tablet PC, and most of all on other business and enterprise solutions (like CRM, etc). Area for Tablet PC notebooks alone was at least 5 times bigger than the area at Microsoft´s stands devoted for Windows Mobile.
