Microsoft Mobile Developer Conference 2004 started (MDC USA)

From March 23 till March 27 2004 the main MDC takes place - the MDC USA. Why main? Because it is in USA - in the home country of Microsoft and because Bill Gates has keynote speech there and number of speakers and participants from Microsoft is the biggest of all MDC events (and losers who canīt get visa to USA are not coming to MDC USA, so it is kind of "exclusive meeting").
Neither Symbian, nor Nokia nor any other cellphone vendor, organizes such gigantic event. But Microsoft does! With over 40 billion of US dollars in bank account, spending couple millions for Microsoft mobiles is a piece of cake for Microsoft.
So whatīs cool this year at MDC? Some educated guesses:
- spoof video to be shown during keynote speech of Bill Gates is supposed to be cool - last time (in PDC) it was spoof video of Matrix movies; keynote speech of Bill Gates however will be as usual boring - this guy simply doesnīt like cell phones - his biggest hobby is playing with his Tablet PC devices and these stupid SPOT watches ; Bill Gates has no idea whatsoever about cell phone industry, so his keynote will be again boring
- MapPoint Location Server - a new revolutionary solution for implementation of Location Based Services for Enterprises - will be revealed and introduced
- it will be introduced to developers how to develop software for Pocket PC devices with VGA resolutions (640x480 pixels, compared to 320x240 that was standard by now) and Microsoft employees will again have a reason to show off - the new Pocket PC devices with VGA resolutions
- Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition will be revealed both for Microsoft Smartphone and for Pocket PC
- again participants will get Whidbey - a Visual Studio .NET of next generation that brings new improved .NET technology also to mobile devices
- speech applications both on server and client side will be underlined
- it will be again presented, that writing software in .NET technologies (like C# or Visual Basic .NET) is so simple that even uneducated monkeys can do it and can do it 100 times faster than educated Java developers
- Microsoft employees and Microsoft MVPs again will be meeting together, drinking beer, and sinking in reciprocal self-admiration, despite the fact that Bill Gates should fire 50% of them because Microsoft powered cell phones still have very tiny market share and still canīt catch up with Symbian
