O2 Asia releases XDA II ROM Update March 31, 2004 [Pocket PC phone] | By anonymous 1. XDA II is the latest Pocket PC phone made by HTC in Taiwan and sold in several countries under various brands. Now O2 Asia (not the same operator as O2 Europe) offers already ROM upgrade for this lastest Pocket PC phone! For English ROM ROM version: 1.60.00 WWE Radio version: 1.08.00 ExtROM version: 1.60.44 MMS Client: 1.6.0.8 For Chinese ROM ROM version: 1.52.00 CHT Radio version: 1.08.00 ExtROM version: 1.52.118 MMS Client: 1.6.0.8 Updates to the software: Updates to the Xda II software encompass improvements / enhancements to the Radio, Pocket PC 2003 Phone Edition and MMS Client softwares. These include: Microsoft PocketPC 2003 AKU1 - for Xda II using English ROM, integration of the updated PocketPC 2003 software release from Microsoft. Note: Xda IIs with Chinese ROM are already using this update. Enhanced GPRS and GSM operations - Tested in Asia operator networks, the latest Radio software version 1.08.00 has improved GPRS and GSM performance. MMS Composer - the latest release of Arcsoft MMS Composer 1.6.0.8 has enhanced mms message content type support and has removed quite a few limitations in the initial version, some of these are listed below. New and Updated Operator network settings - Operator data connection and mms settings have been added or revised since our initial launch. The latest list of operator settings included into Xda II are: 1O1O, AIS, Celcom, ChungHwa Telecom, DiGi, DTAC, Globe, IM3, M1, Maxis, One2Free, Optus, Orange Hong Kong, Satelindo, SingTel, Smart, SmarTone, StarHub, Sunday, Telkomsel, Telstra, Vodafone Australia. You may configure these operator settings by going to Start > Programs > AutoConfig program and select an operator from the list. Resolutions for Known Limitations incorporated work around for showing GPRS Connection Bubble - e-ideas GPRS (Web) GPRS connection status resolved problem with sending SMS with International Number, + sign will be dropped enhanced for auto-disconnect after sending MMS with CSD/Dial-up Data Connection resolved problem with unable to view .3gp video MMS sent from portal enhanced for clearing photo contacts mapping when changing SIM resolved problem such that Sending / Forwarding / Replying to e-mail will be successful the first time after you set up mail box resolved problem with stereo headset muted if you press the power on button after Xda II goes into power safe mode Chinese ROM will used default regional setting: Chinese (HKSAR), this is required for correct Chinese characters display and successful installation of 3rd party softwares resolved problem such that sending Chinese MMS message, message subject can start with Chinese character Added support for Bluetooth Serial Port Profile - this Bluetooth profile enables user to run Global Positioning Systems applications on the Xda II. intent Java T MIDlet Manager - a separately installable software to enable you to install, run and delete MIDlets and/or MIDlet suites on the PocketPC platform.
