Hardware Review: i-Mate Smartphone 2 April 30, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1. "mobile pc - fast-moving computing" magazine reviews i-mate Smartphone 2 - Microsoft smartphone of latest generation produced by HTC and this phone gets 3.5 stars (out of 5), which is better than Nokia 3650, that gets only 3 stars. The review, although featuring only one photo is very interesting - the text of the review contains interesting information bits and comparisons to Motorola MPx200... For starters, it’s the only Windows Mobile 2003 Smartphone handset on the market to offer Bluetooth networking in addition to a built-in camera, infrared, and an SD slot. So if you don’t care for surfing the Web on its 176 x 220-pixel display, you can link up a wireless connection to your notebook or a larger handheld for a more comfortable browsing experience. Powered by a 120MHz Perseus1 processor backed by 32MB of RAM, the Smartphone 2 makes quick work of multimedia files, such as MP3 music and photos, easily outperforming the Motorola MPx200 in our field tests. Where the Motorola often takes upwards of 10 seconds to load a 600KB photo, the i-Mate does it instantly, as you’d expect a truly smart phone to do. So although the Motorola packs a somewhat faster processor, even in the phone world, there appears to be some truth to the theory that clock speed isn’t everything. To read the review click here.
