At a price of 1900 EURO this is not a Pocket PC for everybody, but rather a rugged Pocket PC for professional applications in difficult environments.
Contrary to other vendors, that produce computers also for consumer (non professional) users, Matsushita (owner of the "Panasonic" brand) specializes in rugged devices - it is producing for example a rugged Tablet PC computers ("Toughbook" series) and now also rugged Pocket PC.
Specifications of Panasonic CF-P1:
- protection from water and dust according to IP54 standard
- protection against vibrations according to MIL standard
- case made out of magnesium
- operating temperature: -29°C to +60°C
- operating system: Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC
- SD card slot
- processor: Intel XScale PXA-263 processor, 400 MHz
- memory: 64 MB (RAM / ROM)
- dimensions: 98 x 203 x 41 mm
- weight: 540 g

Clearly this is not a mass market PDA, but it shows how reliable Windows Mobile software is, so reliable that major corporations use it for professional applications - unlike Symbian, that is more for gaming and private usage...
