LivingPictures software available also for Microsoft Smartphone
May 16, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R.

The software vendor of LivingPictures uses present time while refering to LivingPictures and its availability for Microsoft Smartphone platform. Unfortunately this is not true: this application is not available anywhere for download or purchase. Read on...

UPDATE: The product *is* available, just not currently to consumers. The PDF was designed for distribution at E3, whose audience is content providers and telcos. ... says the software vendor! So although the product exists you can't buy it as an individual consumer.

Firstly in the PDF brochure that is availabe for download here the Gameware Development company writes:

The LivingPictures creater tool is currently available on Symbian, Series 60 and MS Smartphone devices with Java and BREW versions under development.

... then on a web page here this company writes:

LivingPictures for mobile phones is an exciting messaging and entertainment product running on Symbian, Series 60 and MS Smartphone devices.

But all in all there is no version for MS Smartphone available for download or purchase yet! It is incredible that some companies claim that some software "is currently available" although clearly it is NOT available. Well, there is at least a place to watch and wait for this application to appear and to really become available...

Here is a description from the software vendor, that explains what LivingPicture software really is:

LivingPictures for mobile easily transforms any 2D digital photograph from your in-built camera into a 3D talking character. LivingPictures allows you to take a photo, simply locate features such as the eyes and mouth, then use the inbuilt recording facility to record your message and you’ve created your own 3D talking messenger! The whole creation process takes no more than 30 seconds and fi les can be saved for future use. The resulting, postcard- style “Living Picture” can then be sent as an MMS message to most colour screen handsets. The recipient phone does not need a pre-downloaded player as the fi le also contains the player. The application is only 200k in size and created fi les are around 30k (depending on the size of the voice message).

Is it really something worthwhile what users would like to use and pay for? Judge for yourself!
