Review: HP iPAQ h6310 June 09, 2004 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. HP iPAQ h6310 is the first Pocket PC phone from HP that is supposed to be available commercially. Previously Compaq (that was later overtaken by HP) was working on iPAQ phones but these were prototypes only. HP iPAQ h6310 looks like a nice phone but with attachable keyboard (not a cell phone keypad) its only main strong point will be built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi at the same time... otherwise it looks like a mediocre Pocket PC phone, not comparable with fantastic Motorola MPx. connectivity is provided through quad-band GSM/GPRS using T-Mobile service, WLAN 802.11b, and Bluetooth. According to HP, the device will be upgradeable to EDGE when the network is delivered and that is part of the roadmap for their PDAphone products. Some of the software that I saw on the device was new. The new and improved HP Wireless Connection Manager enabled the user to turn on and off the phone radio, the 802.11b WLAN radio, and Bluetooth. Interestingly, it seemed that the device would only allow two of the three connections to be active at any time (Phone and WLAN, WLAN and Bluetooth, etc.) To read the review (it includes a lot of text and one nice photo of HP iPAQ h6310 phone) click here.
