Andrew Orlowski - the incompetent liar June 25, 2004 [General] | By Edward J. R. Andrew Orlowski pretends to be an Englishman although he lives in USA and he has no English ancestry. He writes texts for British tabloid "The Register" that pretends to be anti-Microsoft but is running huge Microsoft banners to earn money (what a hypocrisy!). Even now, after it became clearly visible that Symbian is nothing but a puppet of Nokia and not an open multilateral industry initiative (something that we were always claiming at msmobiles.com but something that only recently was acknowledged by The Register) - Nokia simply purchased majority of ownership in Symbian, Andrew Orlowski continues to run mindless, based on ignorance and incompetence, attacks against Microsoft mobile phones: Sendo and Siemens have proved that it's possible to differentiate and innovate in terms of user interface design. That's something all parties know isn't possible with Microsoft's current licensing model. [...] Microsoft now has competent offerings but neither manufacturers nor consumers seem to want to bite. Few OEMs want to accept the restrictive terms placed upon them by Redmond, and consumers simply don't see the Microsoft brand as a clincher. Nothing can be more wrong! Several major manufacturers, including 2nd largest and 3rd largest in the world - Motorola and Samsung - are already making and selling Microsoft powered cell phones and prepareing new ones. Regarding Microsoft's brand: it is second in the world after Coca-Cola and claiming that users don't want it, having in mind that it dominates PC desktop market and is just entering the cell phone market, is an ignorant nonsense. Regarding user interface design customization and innovation Andrew Orlowski again proves that he has no idea what he is talking about. See this new user interface provided in Orange SPV C500 Microsoft Smartphone:
Not only is Andrew Orlowski:
... lying and misinforming people, but he is also extremely incompetent in matters related to cell phones. Conclusion: don't trust in anything that is written about Microsoft related issues by "The Register"! They are too biased (artificially - just to fool readers that they are anti-Microsoft) and too incompetent in matters related to Microsoft mobiles.
