Leading Websites Meet the Growing Software Needs of Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone Users

PowerByHand, the premier provider of mobile content and solutions, today announced that both PocketGear.com and Smartphone.net have experienced significant growth across the board, with increases in the number of software vendors and applications, average price of software sold and average number of purchases per user.

PocketGear.com is the leading provider of software for Windows Mobile Pocket PCs, and Smartphone.net is the largest provider of software for Windows Mobile Smartphones. According to a recent report from Gartner Dataquest, Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system continues to increase its worldwide market share with 40.2% of the market.

Year to date sales on PocketGear.com and Smartphone.net have increased by 106%, as compared to the same period in 2003. Software development for the sites has also increased dramatically during this time, with 498 new software developers and 1,041 new software applications added to the sites.

The most popular categories on PocketGear.com include business, device enhancements, utilities, time management and games and the most popular software titles included Spb Pocket Plus, Pocket Informant and Battery Pack Pro. The average price of software sold by PocketGear.com also increased from $15.16 per application to $16.09 per application.

The most popular categories on Smartphone.net included entertainment-multimedia, games-action, games-sports, games-card and entertainment-themes and the most popular titles included SoundZ Cool!, SmartphoneNotes and FizzTraveller. The average price of software sold at Smartphone.net was $11.26 and the average number of orders per customer was 2.05.

PowerByHand plans to leverage the success that both PocketGear.com and Smartphone.net have seen in North America with expansions into the European mobile market.
