The Shame Must Go On ? July 06, 2004 [General] | By Edward J. R. 2 years passed and nothing. How long should we wait? Another 2 years?
(on picture above: a guy from Microsoft is using drums to heat up crowd of developers and journalists at TechEd 2004 Europe) iAnywhere - full subsidiary of Sybase - just released an AvantGo client for Symbian OS (UIQ) Mobile Phones: Symbian OS running on the following mobile phones: Sony-Ericsson P800, P900 ... but version of AvantGo client for Microsoft Smartphone is still not available. What a shame! AvantGo client is a program that allows users of PDAs and cell phones to sync news while connected to PC and then read them in an off-line mode. Apparently even after 2 years after launch of Microsoft Smartphone still Sybase is boycotting this platform... what a shame, what a shame... Users of Microsoft Smartphone usually very often are synching to their PC and since GPRS is prohibitively expensive in most countries outside of USA, it would be totally a hit! We are asking ourselves: why Microsoft is not reacting? Why Microsoft is not trying to "convince" Sybase to release an AvantGo client also for Microsoft Smartphone platform? Don't they know that having AvantGo client for Microsoft Smarthone would be significant contribution to market success of cell phones powered by this platform? Should we use tom-tom or some another drum based communications technology to get the message through to Microsoft and to Sybase? The situation seems to be hopeless...
