Bluetooth in Motorola MPx220 Microsoft Smartphone - first impressions and screen shots July 16, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Contrary to Orange SPV E200 - the first Microsoft Smartphone with built-in Bluetooth - the Motorola MPx220 supports also hands free profile, not just headset profile (here you can see one of the first ever published screen shots of Motorola MPx220 - real screen shots, not just "photos of the display"):
We have been testing it with hands free Bluetooth car kit from Ericsson and it works fine. Motorola itself produces a lot of Bluetooth gear so if you buy MPx220 you can be pretty sure that it will support all of it - all thouse Motorola Bluetooth headsets and Bluetooth car kits. Please note that Motorola was telling a lot of about "Motorola MotoPro Innovation Platform" that should add a lot of new features on top of Microsoft's operating systems, but we reckon that this platform will be more visible in Motorola MPx (a true Pocket PC phone) rather than "small brother" - Motorola MPx220: still there is no Bluetooth LAN access profile and still it will be not possible to dial-up to Internet from MPx220 using some other Bluetooth enabled cell phone. On the other hand the Motorola MPx220 that we are testing now is quite an early model (but later than those showed on some exhibitions lately that didn't have any Bluetooth extensions from Motorola at all yet) and it well may be that in the final version the Bluetooth functionality will be improved.
