Hardware Review: HP iPAQ 6340 Pocket PC phone

This is one of the first reviews of new Pocket PC phone from HP. It's quite short but reveals some practical experiences with the phone. This time however it is HP iPAQ 6340 - a version of this phone for Europe, that will come there to the market in September 2004 and it will cost 699 EURO. The version for USA is called "HP iPAQ 6340". This review is unfortunately in German so here are some highlights from this review translated to English:
- it's possible to use more than one wireless feature at once, for example one can speak on the phone over Bluetooth headset and at the same time browse Internet over Wi-Fi !!!
- for battery saving purposes the phone is equipped with a bit slow processor - just 200 MHz - but performance of applications is satisfactory - one can even use TomTom navigator over Bluetooth with use of Bluetooth GPS - without any significant performance problems
- the only card slot available is SDIO - which anyway usually is used for Wi-Fi SD cards and for Bluetooth SD cards - something that this phone doesn't need because both of these features are already built-in
- the quality of the thumb-keyboard - which is attachable and available in the package - is high and it is quite usable and it is pleasant to use
- battery life is excellent: it is 2 days with heavy usage of PDA, Wi-Fi and phone calling.
- unfortunately the phone has 64 MB RAM only (and, what is not mentioned in the review : no "Second Edition" operating system) but it is very stable in operation
