Dopod 565 (a Chinese version of Orange SPV C500) already officially launched in Taiwan August 18, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. We were reporting previously that Dopod 565 is coming, and now it has been confirmed and Dopod (Taiwanese company, that is targeting mainland China markets) has launched this phone on their home turf: Taiwan.
(on picture above: flag of Taiwan) Interestingly the fact is that Dopod was the first distributor/operator in the world, that as commercially offering (selling) a Microsoft Smartphone powered by Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphone software! It was Dopod 515, that looks like the very old Orange SPV but has more memory to accomadate new operating system and Chinese language support. It looks like now Dopod consequently will be introducing also other models from HTC. Taiwanese Dopod International Corp, a smartphone vendor initially based in Shanghai, launched its first mobile phone on its home turf yesterday aiming to quickly grab a share of the nation's market. "We feel the timing is right to introduce Dopod-branded phones to the Taiwan market, which is maturing," said Jack Tong, president of Dopod. Tong made the remarks during the launch of the company's first handset here, the Dopod 0565. Dopod, a company controlled by Cher Wang, chairwoman of the nation's biggest smartphone contract maker High Tech Computer Corp, will heavily rely on High Tech for phone supplies for the time being.
