i-mate SP3 comes to Middle East August 24, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. If you are living in one of countries of Middle East, then at the beginning of next month (September 2004) please visit one of those shops: Plug-Ins, Carrefour, Radioshack, Virgin, Jacky's Electronics, Compu me or Global Link Communications, and look around for i-mate SP3 - the very same cell phone as Orange SPV C500 but branded by Carrier Devices.
Buying "i-mate" branded smartphone has some advantages, and one of the biggest of them is access to club i-mate where users can download ringtones, free or cheaper programs and other goodies. The "i-mate" brand is owned by Carrier Devices company that originally was Australian, but then relocated to Middle East, to Dubai. Carrier Devices is a distributor of HTC made cell phones - Pocket PC phones and Smartphones. Apart from Scandinavian Qtek, the Carrier Devices company, is the one of 2 biggest distributors of HTC made cell phones. i-mate SP3 is exactly the same model as Orange SPV C500, so you get all the benefits: fast processor (200 MHz) of new generation, built-in Bluetooth and VGA camera and last not least: very small size. Since Carrier Devices is located in Middle East, we can assume that i-mate SP3 will be released first there (first half of September 2004)! Therefore we can reason, that all the online shops that have i-mate SP3 available for pre-orders will have it a bit later, so we think that second half of September 2004 is more realistic for them.. i-mate SP3 is number 3 - already the third generation of Microsoft Smartphone phones in Middle East. Arab 3!
