Meet HTC Vivida - new Microsoft Smartphone made by HTC for CDMA networks (Verizon Wireless, USA, not for Europe) August 28, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Thanks to courtesy of American FCC organization we can present you another new Microsoft Smartphone made by HTC, that is coming soon. If you are located in USA, and appreciate big coverage and reliability of Verizon Wireless, then now not only Samsung i600 but also HTC Vivida will be a possibility for you if you wish to use Microsoft Smartphone! This phone rocks! Why? Not only because it runs Microsoft Smarpthone software, has nice sliding construction, has built-in Bluetooth and built-in camera... It also has "R-UIM" - an exchnageable subscriber module, so that users can buy and sell this phone without need to worry about operators.. This phone has a sliding construction, and when closed it looks like this:
... and when open it looks like this:
Please take a look at this screenshot of the home screen of this phone from the user manual:
... where you can notice "1X" symbol, that shows that phone is in range of CDMA 1X network - data transmission extension of CDMA networks that makes it possible to use higher transmission speeds. Microsoft Smartphone phones for GSM usually have at this place a "G" symbol that indicates GPRS. On the other hand one can notice that this phone doesn't have Windows logo on the "Start" soft key, what indicates that it doesn't run latest operating system: "Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphone Second Edition". It most probably runs an older version, not "Second Edition" !!! To view more photos, user manual and more testing documentation from FCC click here.
