Tiny GPS - new program for Microsoft Smartphone released, but it does not work in most smartphones ... September 03, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. MobilOK TinyGPS is a powerful tool to perform various actions on the Smartphone, based on its geographical location. We have impression that putting name "GPS" into a program for Microsoft Smartphone that doesn't support real GPS at all but just relies on cell ID (a network parameter in GSM networks), is an exaggeration! On top of that in our totally unlocked smartphone (Orange SPV E200 for developers) that never had any problems with other software this program displays this message: 
... which shows that this program can't even run properly in unlocked phones! So we recommend you to download trial version of this program for free before any buying it! Don't you believe in claims of the author - just try the trial version and check if it works. If you can't get the trial version (there seems to be problems about it with this program) then do not buy it at all! More info from the developer follows. Tiny GPS enables receiving information about location of your phone in your GSM network. It also shows name of your current location (if your GSM operator provides it). You can teach your phone locations which are important for you like: home, school, work, train station, church etc. Then you can set up events based on entering or leaving chosen location. For example your phone can automatically switch profile to Silent when you come home. If you commute to work by train you can set up alarm which will wake you up when you arrive to the train station even if your train is late! Installing Tiny GPS Please try the application before buying. When you run TinyGPS for the first time it will ask you whether you want to enable cell broadcasting you have to answer Yes in order to use the application. Then you have to restart your phone. If you have any valuable data on your phone please backup it before installing TinyGPS. Supported phones We tested Tiny GPS on Orange SPV e200 phone but it should work on any Windows Mobile 2003 Smartphone application unlocked.
