T-Mobile SDA - Microsoft Smartphone to be branded and sold soon by T-Mobile Germany
September 04, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R.
During CeBIT 2003 T-Mobile Germany was showing us that they work on introduction of Microsoft Smartphone, but only now, after 1.5 years T-Mobile decided to release Microsoft Smarpthone commercially:
Please note: Orange - the pioneering operator in Microsoft Smarpthone phones - is just a 3rd largest operator in Europe and one of the smallest operators in the world and it doesn't even have presence in USA. However T-Mobile is a 2nd largest cellular network operator globally and thus impact of having Microsoft Smarpthone in their offering is even more important!!!
Here are some highlights about T-Mobile SDA - the first Microsoft Smartphone to be branded and to be sold by T-Mobile:
- the phone will be sold at T-Mobile Germany without subscription for just 269.95 Euro - it will make it the cheapest Microsoft Smartphone ever! It's too early to say however whether such phone will be SIM-locked or not.
- the model of the phone is HTC Feeler that is branded by T-Mobile as "T-Mobile SDA" - similarly like MDA = Mobile Digital Assistant, here we have SDA = Smartphone Digital Assistat
- this phone is supposed to be available (according to the leaflet) already in the middle of September 2004!
- regarding specifications it is exactly the same model as Orange SPV C500 - it has built-in VGA camera and built-in Bluetooth and fast processor, however it has another external construction - for example joystick usable for gaming instead of that awkard scroll-pad as in Orange SPV C500
