HTC booms, Orange dumps Motorola for the sake of C500 + why Motorola MPx is delayed September 09, 2004 [General] | By Edward J. R. Orange dumps Motorola for the sake of Orange SPV C500 phone! So our former story about it has thus found confirmation... and it looks like shipments of Orange SPV C500 are now massive (Orange gets from HTC nowadays 600,000 to 700,000 C500 phones monthly)... HTC Corp. is expecting a better sales performance for its smart-phone sales in the second half of the year with its attractive SPV C500 phones contracted by European cellular-service provider Orange. SPV C500 powered by Microsoft's operating system with its compact size and lighter weight. HTC schedule to deliver 600,000 to 700,000 SPV C500s per month to Orange in the fourth quarter. Orange has reduced its orders for Motorola's MPx110 and switch to SPV C500. Meanwhile, Compal Communication Inc. has discussed with Motorola over how to revitalize MPx110s in the market soon. But Motorola's MPx220, outsourced from Chi Mei Communication Systems, is another darling of this market for its scarce four-band feature and modern look. Motorola will put off the launch of this phone until the fourth quarter from the originally scheduled third quarter due mainly to late development work. MPx is another Motorola smart phone to go to market behind the original schedule because of system-integration problem caused by its built-in wireless local area network (WLAN) system and PocketPC Phone Edition OS. This phone is expected to hit the market around October or November this year at the earliest. To read more click here.
