Meet O2 XDA IIs and O2 XDAIIi - it is like T-Mobile MDA III but has GSM quad-band and cool dark color of the casing September 09, 2004 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. While Nokia continues to spit out next lame models of Nokia Communicator series - brick-like size/format, design like soviet tank (not to forget that Finland where Nokia is headquarted had military pact with Soviet Union) and often lack of basic features like Bluetooth or Wi-Fi - the new Pocket PC phones, on contrary to Nokia communicators, are stunning! Since operator O2 is known as pioneer in Pocket PC phones, everybody expected that it will release O2 Xda III phone that will be the same as T-Mobile MDA III but branded by O2. Apparently not! Instead O2 is about to release O2 XDA IIs and O2 XDA IIi - with quad-band but still with built-in Wi-Fi, slide-out keyboard, camera and Bluetooth... wow... on both fronts: small phones (Microsoft Smartphone) and PDA-like phones (Pocket PC Phone Edition) several fascinating models will be released commercially in next 2-4 months. What an interesting times for a fan of Microsoft cell phones! Wow. Double wow: The Xda IIs will be available in the UK and Ireland on 1st November 2004, Germany by December 2004, and the XDA IIi early 2005. XDA IIs and XDA IIi? What's that? Read on... Well, secret to be solved: O2 XDA IIs is exactly the same as T-Mobile MDA III, what means slow processor with 400 MHz and VGA-only camera, while O2 XDA IIi brings faster processor - 520 MHz (still not 624 MHz as in Dell Axim X30) and megapixel camera. It's a fact. And nowadays again Pocket PC phones exceed Nokia Communicators in many aspects. Interestingly Nokia hides processor speed from users, but users of Pocket PC phones know exactly what they get. Why Nokia hides it? Well, they (Finns) learned it from their former ally - Soviet Union. Conclusion: if you want to have the most stylish and the most sophisticated PDA phone, then only Pocket PC phone is the way to go! The pioneer in Pocket PC phones - O2 - shows that future is bright for this platform. And if you can't cope with the fact that PDA phones are a bit bigger than regular phones, then don't worry - the smallest smartphone in the world is also powered by Microsoft, not by Symbian - Orange SPV C500. Nokia? No, thank you. Berlin wall has fallen and so will Nokia.
