R. ... and since both these companies either want to produce (BenQ) also Windows Mobile phones or are producing only Windows Mobile phones, it means that we will observe much more Windows Mobile phones (both Pocket PC phones and Microsoft Smartphones) with built-in Wi-Fi! "Using the phone, Web surfers will be able to be connected to the Internet through their mobile operator's GPRS services on the run. When arriving at a hot spot, they can switch to lower-priced WLAN services to browse Web pages or access e-mails on bandwidths of 2 megabits or 8 megabits." ... said Peter Wu, vice president of Acer corproation. To learn more about these topics click here. Conclusions: we will see new Pocket PC phones with built-in Wi-Fi from Benq, Microsoft Smartphone devices from Mitac with Wi-Fi as add-on, Microsoft Smartphone devices with built-in Wi-Fi from HTC, and more... please note also, that currently avaiable (or coming soon) devices like HP iPAQ phone, Motorola MPx or latest Pocket PC phones made by HTC - also contain built-in Wi-Fi but they are branded by "western" corporations - western vendors and cellular network operators. Here, in this news story we are talking about mobile phones with built-in Wi-Fi branded by Taiwanese manufacturers themselves... Entrance of the dragon without western middle man? you bet! This is this what it is all about: some Taiwanese manufacturers have enough of being unknown factory for well known brands, and they are already on the way to promote their own Taiwanese brands. What does it mean? Cheaper prices for more features and no need to pay premium for inferior products just because there is label "Nokia" on them.
