For developers : new website devoted entirely to Microsoft mobile platforms September 26, 2004 [General] | By Edward J. R. Dwayne Lamb, who is a Microsoft MVP and owner of Visual Byte Inc, after failing to make money with software for Windows Mobile, created this new website to provide information for developers of various mobile devices powered by Microsoft software - not just Pocket PC and Microsoft Smartphone: The goal of this new site is to be a leading central repository of the important information and links that a mobile developer needs while developing for Microsoft mobile platforms. Whether it is finding the right development tools and SDKs to get started, or finding the best places to sell and advertise your finished application, you will find helpful information on those and other topics here. As you can see by the menu on the left, there are five major categories focused on Smartphone, Pocket PC, Embedded (Win CE and Windows XP), Game Developement and MapPoint (Webservices and MapPoint Location Server), all of which are approached with the mobile solution developer in mind. To view this website click here. Conclusions: this new website is quite lame and doesn't have much useful information, but it is always useful to have some addtional source of information - you can find on this website for example list of upcoming events related to Windows Mobile software developments. For hard core developers however Pocket PC Developer Network and Smarthpone Developer Network are much more useful. Also Microsoft's own Mobility portal for Developers is very useful.
