ROM upgrade for UK version of Orange SPV C500 smartphone available for download

Not only Orange was the first cellular network operator, that started selling Microsoft Smartphone cellphones, but it is, until now, the best: shortly after commercial release of Orange SPV C500 smartphone, Orange just released a ROM upgrade, that brings many improvements and fixes some problems noticed by the community of smartphone users.
Unfortunately this ROM upgrade doesn't bring Windows Media Player 10 Mobile - the contemporary, much improved version over current, awkward and clumsy Windows Player 9. It is worth mentioning, that Windows Media Player 10 Mobile is tightly coupled with underlying operating system and it cannot be delivered just as a separate installation, but it must be delivered with wholly new build of the smartphone platform. Hopefully Orange will release yet another ROM upgrade for C500, this time with Windows Media Player 10 Mobile - otherwise upcoming T-Mobile SDA Music smartphone - that has 3 additional music playback dedicated buttons, will steal the show from C500... some information from Orange about this upgrade follows.
Upgrade your SPV's C500 performance
You can improve the performance of your SPV C500 by downloading the new ROM update. This will give you the following benefits:
- Videos can be sent via MMS
- Flickering issue in games has now been fixed
- Packet video full screen mode and backlight fix
- Improved memory management of the camera and video applications
- Improved browsing/upload speed (changed from GPRS class 8 to class 10)
Before you perform your upgrade, please ensure that:
- You are not already running the most recent software. To check your current version of software, from the Home Screen, press Start, Settings, About and scroll down to check your operator version. If your version is Operator version: 4.1.1.4 . then you already have the latest software.
- Please note that this update is for UK devices only and cannot be used on SPV C500s sold in other countries.
- Your SPV C500's battery is fully charged.
- Your PC is running Windows 98, 2000 or XP.
- You have backed-up all of your personal data (contacts, appointments, tasks) using ActiveSync (3.7.1) or Orange backup (in the Start/Orange folder on your phone). While performing the ROM Update, all of your data and settings will be erased from your SPV C500. After you've performed the update, restore your personal data and settings to your updated SPV C500. Data on your mini-SD Card (in the "\Storage Card" directory) will not be modified. However, any applications installed on the "Storage Card" will have to be reinstalled.
Installation: Windows
- Connect your SPV C500 and PC via the USB cable.
- Whilst performing the update, don't disconnect your SPV C500 from the power supply or from your PC and don't touch any of the buttons on your SPV C500.
- Click on the Download Operator version: 4.1.1.4 ROM update link below and save this file to disk by left clicking on the link and selecting "save target as" from the menu.
- Double-click the .exe file.
Follow all instructions in the installation wizard that will appear on screen
