Screen shots from Windows Mobile 2005 leaked

Magneto is not just a name of a villain from X-Men movies, but it also is a code name for upcoming Windows Mobile platform, that is based on Windows CE 5.0 core operating system. Currently contemporary Windows Mobile platforms are based on Windows CE 4.2.
Since security at Microsoft is not high, already
several external developers got in their hands ROM images and development kits for this next version of Windows Mobile. Interestingly some screen shots from smartphone and Pocket PC versions of this new Windows Mobile are already available here.
Highlights about above mentioned screen shots:
- apart from typical menu as it is now in Smartphone 2003, in Smartphone 2005 (i.e. Windows Mobile 2005 ) there will also be a selection possibility based on big icons presented in a table layout - as it is now in small phones from Sony Ericsson
- possibility to handle 2 soft-buttons, instead of drop-down (or pop-up) menu, will be added also to Pocket PC - in other words if somebody would like to put future Pocket PC operating system on MS Smartphone hardware - it would work out because future Pocket PC will handle soft buttons as MS Smartphone platform handles them now!
Of course there are many other features, on which Microosft still is working : embedding SQL Mobile database engine in both Smartphone and Pocket PC - is the most exciting feature for us, but many people will find sophisticated notification API as the biggest breakthrough... all in all: next version of Windows Mobile will bring a lot of improvements, but we are still not sure whether these improvements will be really so useful for application in smartphones and PDA phones if we keep in mind that Microsoft still doesn't have software components for videotelephony (needed for 3G phones)...
