Upgrade of TomTom Mobile to enable operation in Orange SPV C500 available now, kind of November 01, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By anonymous 1. At the beginning, just after release of TomTom Mobile (GPS car navigation kit with software, maps and Bluetooth GPS kit) it was working fine with Orange SPV E200, but not with C500. Now apparently a fix that makes it working with Orange SPV C500 is available. Kind of. But only through GPRS... At the moment the update for the C500 is available as part of the Traffic Plug-in. As of now, Traffic is standard in the MOBILE app. So in order to update, all users need to sign up to a trial Traffic account and activate this. Also you can only activate your account via GPRS. So anybody without GPRS can not get to the download link. This will be corrected shortly. To read more, including several more, very detailed, tips on how to make TomTom Mobile working click here. Official web page of TomTom Mobile is here. At this moment you have to sign-up and register Traffic for this solution to convince TomTom Mobile to work with Orange SPV C500. TomTom Mobile is sold in a boxed form: as a package that contains MMC cards with software and maps and a Bluetooth GPS receiver. Apart from that there is "Traffic" option that contains the fix for C500. Unfortuntely TomTom company haven't released separate, independent from Traffic portion, upgrade to enable C500, so it looks like TomTom company is bullying users into buying Traffic option... to get TomTom Mobile working with Orange SPV C500 and other similar, new models...
