Free Home Screen plug-in: Alarm Plug-in for Microsoft Smartphone available
November 07, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R.

Even regular, non-smartphone, cell phones are able to display wake-up time of the alarm clock, apart from the regular time (here: to the right, with a bell icon near to it):

Unfortunately none of the standard home screen layouts of MS Smartphone is able to display the time of the upcoming alarm event. Fortunately home screen layout of Microsoft Smartphone is fully customizable, and apart from changing looks it enables also embedding of a so called "home screen plug-ins", which are programs that are running in the background and displaying something on the home screen. "Smartphone 2003 Alarm Plug-in" is a FREEWARE, that is exactly such a plug-in! It displays time of the upcoming alarm:

... and once you will select it in the home screen with the cursor keys:

... and press action key (in the middle of cursor keys), then a dialog from settings is appearing and cursor is automatically positioned in the "Alarm time" field:

... - a dialog, that usually is deeply hidden in the menu structure.

After installation of this plug-in (just copy the CAB file to your smartphone and select it with any file browser to launch installation) one additional home screen layout is available:

... which is named, as you can see above, "AlarmPlug Test" - it is just a sample home screen layout. Actually you can use this plug-in also in other home screen layouts (click here to learn how to do it inside of your Microsoft Smartphone), so this "AlarmPlug Test" layout is just a sample - to show you how to do it.

To learn more about this plug-in, or to download it click here (to download there you must be registered). Optionally you can download this plug-in from our mirror here.
