Hardware review: Mio 8390 (Mitac) - Microsoft Smartphone November 10, 2004 [General] | By Edward J. R. This review has been written by "The Register" - an online tabloid, that is known from being ostentatiously anti-Microsoft but at the same time accepting large payments for advertisements of Microsoft products - what a hypocrisy! While it is true that this publication is one of the top (traffic-wise) online websites about technology news, it is also true that this review shows amateurishness of Tony Smith from "The Register", who, similarly like Andrew Orlowski from the same tabloid, fails to notice obvious things but continues mindless ranting on things of secondary importance... for example: not only this review doesn't contain any original photos (only those taken from the Internet, is "The Register" that poor that they can't afford digital camera?) but also as conclusion it is stated that although this phone doesn't have a Bluetooth, it still is a fine product: Good things don't always come in small packages, as the Mio 8390 demonstrates. It's a well-designed, well-made handset that looks good and feels more expensive than it is. The battery life is decent, and the screen excellent. Yes, it's software bundle lacks some essential mobile office tools, and there's no Bluetooth connectivity on offer, but it's still a very fine product for buyers seeking solid PDA functionality in a mobile phone form-factor. ... so apparently author of this review, and the whole "The Register" simply don't catch the drift, still don't understand stuff about which they are writing. After all, let's not forget that Andrew Orlowski from "The Register" once got bribed by Nokia, what resulted in series of pro-Nokia and anti-Microsoft articles, and now his successor seems to drift slowly in direction of pro-Microsoftism - apparently these Microsoft powered cellphones are getting (still? no, already are!) so good, that increasingly it will be difficult to find anything negative in them...
