Hardware review : Dopod 818 (HTC Magician branded by Dopod) November 13, 2004 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. The smallest Pocket PC phone of all times is making impressions also in Asia! While it is already on sale as i-mate JAM at expansys.com (for worlwide delivery) and at T-Mobile EU as T-Mobile MDA Compact, and it is coming soon also as Qtek S100, this mini Pocket PC phone is now on sale in China as Dopod 818!
In this review author is among others presenting comparative pictures of HTC Magician (code name of HTC for this phone) with Sony Ericsson P910i! Result: HTC Magician is smaller than Sony Ericsson P910i - in all dimensions, see picture above - but has bigger display, that has more pixels than P910i! At last Microsoft camp has something to offer to bit succesful line of PDA phones from Sony Ericsson! Difference in price between MS Smartphone of latest generation (like SDA, C500, i-mate SP3) and the HTC Magician is small - just about 180 Euro (250 USD) but one gets access to much much more third party programs. On top of that built-in megapixel camera and possibility to add Wi-Fi through SDIO card are also worth mentioning... To view the review (it's in Chinese, but pictures are worth seeing) click here. More pictures of Dopod 818, including pictures from a party promoting it, can be found here. Credit: Diego Angemi.
