Audio interview with Robert Scoble - the NUMBER ONE BLOGGER at Microsoft November 18, 2004 [General] | By Edward J. R. "it's only the past 2 weeks when people [at Microsoft] got excited about those [Microsoft powered] phones."
Robert Scoble works as evangelist at Microsoft and interestingly (for us, fans of Windows Mobile) he uses Microsoft Smartphone (Audiovox STM 5600) as his one and only cell phone! While he is NOT from Windows Mobile division, he has insight on many things related to Microsoft because he is a general, overall Microsoft evangelist and has contacts with various teams at Microsoft! In this audio interview we are discussing many topics related to Windows Mobile at Microsoft, but also various other topics such as Longhorn, Microsoft Exchange, XBox, Halo 2, SQL Mobile, Skype, usage of cell phones in USA versus usage of cell phones in Europe, etc. etc. Microsoft, contrary to Nokia, is NOT forbidding blogging - Microsoft employees are blogging and the only limitation is having some free time for it. One shocking conclusion from this interview is: only after Audiovox STM 5600 has become available in USA the Microsoft people started being excited about Microsoft powered cellphones! All previous models were either overseas (i.e. not USA) or were too lame. Incredible. But true! And now, after release of Audiovox STM 5600 in USA, Microsoft employees in various departments are getting excited about Microsoft cellphones and start using them on massive scale. This massive usage among Microsoft employees of various (not just Windows Mobile) departments will spawn many interesting developments for Microsoft powered cell phones itself! At last the effects of synergy of various departments at Microsoft will be visible in Microsoft cellphones! We are truly standing on the verge of new era. Well, above are just our interpretations of this interview. They may be wrong. Very wrong.
