Telefonica Moviles launches TSM 520 - the first smartphone from Movistar powered by Windows Mobile from Microsoft December 03, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. There is no doubt about that: HTC Typhoon constitutes huge breakthrough for Microsoft powered cellphones. First sold as Orange SPV C500, later also as i-mate SP3 and Audiovox STM 5600, now it goes on sale also in Spain. And since Spanish cellular operators have huge influence on cellular operators in Latin America (South America + Latin part of North America), this story is even more important! Thanks to many billions of Euro received by Spain from EU also Spain itself converted from third world economy to one of the strongest economies in the EU - so besides it cultural influences on whole Latin America Spain is now one of big EU countries. Bravo HTC ! HTC Typhoon (and HTC Feeler sold as T-Mobile SDA) are great phones. If only the would have megapixel cameras, instead of VGA, then they would be perfect... information from Telefónica Móviles follows. * * * * * The company has released the TSM 520, a Windows Mobile Smartphone 2003 device, the first smartphone in the MoviStar line up. The TSM 520 is manufactured by Taiwanese company HTC. The company is targeting the TSM 520 to the professional user. The TSM 520 allows users to access the Oficin@ MoviStar services, including Internet, e-mail and Intranet access via VPN. It also provides SMS, MMS and video recording functionality. Telefónica Móviles is already selling other devices based on Windows Mobile platform. The TSM 500 was launched last March and it is based on Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC Phone Edition. The main difference is that while new TSM 520 is a Smartphone with a single handed operation focus and voice centric, the TSM 500 is a converged device bringing telephony applications into a PDA with touch screen.
