Hardware review : Motorola MPx220 - Microsoft sponsored Motorola bashing December 22, 2004 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Jorgen Sundgot got Motorola MPx220 cellphone for free, as a gift, when he was participating in Microsoft-sponsored (Microsoft paid for traveling, lodging and gifts) Mobius 2004 USA invite-only conference. While this review still doesn't feature original photos, that are usually essential part of professional reviews, it is however, surprisingly, a very good and in-depth review! Having corrected several mistakes made by its predecessor, the MPx220 now delivers better battery life, a more responsive user experience, improved connectivity support and suitable amounts of memory. Unfortunately, usability and ergonomics issues abound, audio is barely adequate, and output from the megapixel camera is outright abysmal. Still, the MPx220 carries out the vast majority of its core functions with aplomb, and does so with a reasonable price tag. What's positive: Quad-band; Bluetooth; Windows Mobile 2003 SE What's negative: Usability issues abound; poor audio; megapixel camera horrid To read this very good (except for the lack of original photos of the phone) review click here. Apparently Jorgen Sundgot doesn't have yet digital camera to make photos of reviewed devices (unfortunately for him Microsoft isn't giving away free cameras during Mobius conferences), but we are impressed with depth and insight in this review so go read it if you still have doubts which Microsoft Smartphone to buy! Apparently latest generation of smartphones made by HTC : HTC Typhoon (like C500, STM5600, etc) and HTC Feeler (like SDA, i-mate SP3i, etc) are the best value for money and simply the best currently available cell phones powered by Windows Mobile for Smartphone. Motorola fails to impress with Motorola MPx220.
