ROM upgrade with Windows Media Player 10 available for a Sagem MyS-7 January 18, 2005 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Unfortunately Orange has not yet delivered ROM upgrade with Windows Media Player 10 and users must stick with outdated version: 9. French users of Sagem MyS-7 however can upgrade their phones with new ROM and get Windows Media Player 10 - the first time such upgrade with WMP10 is available for a Microsoft Smartphone device (it was available previously for some Pocket PC devices)! Windows Media Player 10 brings a lot of improvements: ability to play music protected by latest Microsoft's DRM (like the one from MSN Music or audible.com) and increased usability. To download this ROM upgrade click here (ZIP file, approximately 20 MB). To browse for more support for your Sagem branded Microsoft Smartphone click here - to gain access to downloads section and other information, you must however register there first - for free - but IMEI number of your Sagem branded phone is required. Conclusion: don't trust operators (like Orange) that fail to provide such critical update - they simply show no respect for consumers. And next time you will be buying (any!) Windows Mobile device - whether it will be Pocket PC or Smartphone - ask: "does it have Windows Media Player 10? can I see it on the screenshot or in demonstration?" and if the answer on both questions is "no" then don't buy such device.
