February 03, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.
It looks like palmOne's Treo650 will get strong competion from HP in form of iPAQ Mobile Messenger:
... that will be powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile for Pocket PC Phone Edition! Here are some highlights about this cell phone
- name: hw6500 series
- built-in Qwerty keyboard (not just attachable like in h6300 series)
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth
- quad-band GSM with GPRS and EDGE support - but no 3G/UMTS/WCDMA
- resolution (uncofirmed yet): 240x240 - much worse than 320x320 in Treo650 and than 640x480 in T-Mobile MDA IV. Usually by now all Pocket PC phones had 320x240 - the regular Pocket PC resolution
- built-in GPS receiver
- processor: unknown (h6300 uses ultra-slow from Texas Instruments)
- availability: Q2 2005
- first public appearance : 3GSM World Congress - the biggest conference about mobile phones in the world, that takes place in Cannes, France this month. Please note: msmobiles.com staff will be there and we will bring you first-hand reports!
