3GSM World Congress coverage: Windows Mobile Global Marketing Summit is underway February 12, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. The summit started today on 9:00 in the morning local time with keynote session by Suzan DelBene, Corporate Vice-President, Microsoft from Windows Mobile and Embedded division.
This 2 day summit takes place today and tomorrow and also Pieter Knook, Senior Vice-President, Microsoft, and other managers from Microsoft and some partners will be talking too. Face to face meetings between device maker partners and members of the various teams across Mobile and Embedded Devices will also take place during 3GSM World Congress - i.e. on Monday and later, when proper 3GSM World Congress starts. Contrary to Symbian where owners of the company and software license takers are in most cases one and the same thing, in case of Microsoft's Windows Mobile the separation is clear and Microsoft is not competing with its own license takers like it is in a mistaken business model of Symbian! This summit clearly shows that partners of Microsoft - hardware manufacturers, operators and distributors - get strong support from Microsoft and Microsoft is not their competitor.
