3GSM World Congress 2005 coverage: audio interview with Alberto Bozzo from HP about HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger h6500 Pocket PC phone February 15, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Previously we presented close-up photos of HP iPAQ Mobile Messenger h6500 and now we present audio interview about this device. By listening to this interview you can learn everything that you wanted to know but were afraid to ask... Alberto Bozzo is a Vice-President and General Manager in Personal Systems Group for EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa):
In this interview you can learn that HP is very strongly concentrating on enterprise customers and on this what they need. Since HP iPAQ h6500 is the first in the world PDA phone with embedded GPS and it will be available commercially already in 2nd half of April 2005, this phone, despite lack of built-in Wi-Fi, may be one of hottest Pocket PC phones ever! Please note that this device is an EDGE device, however in Europe EDGE is much less popular than in USA, mainly because in Europe operators prefer to roll out 3G instead of EDGE... however built-in GPS and built-in keyboard are very very strong selling points... Please note also that lack of Wi-Fi is not a problem because this device is targeted at enterprise customers and reality nowadays is that many enterprises are too scared of security holes in Wi-Fi and are practically forbidding Wi-Fi, and not spreading it! Anyway: Wi-Fi is attachable through SDIO Wi-Fi card to this phone! To listen to this podcast click here (format: MP3, size: 5.67 MB). Please note: this audio interview was recorded during booze-party of HP so please excuse us for some female voices in French... that occur in this podcast.
