Windows Mobile at CeBIT 2005 - Microsoft STILL does not get it March 04, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. CeBIT trade show takes place in a German city of Hannover in Central Europe, but make no mistake: it is the biggest Information and Communications Technologies trade show in the world - by the sheer number of exhibiting companies and visitors. Usually there are more than 7000 companies exhibiting at CeBIT and many hundreds thousands of visitors. This year CeBIT takes place between March 10 (Thursday) and March 16 (Wednesday) with a weekend conveniently in the middle so that also people, who work can participate. There is one problem though: contrary to many other companies that cater for mass market consumers and profesional users alike - coming from all over the world, Microsoft treats CeBIT as a local German event of secondary importance. The biggest technology trade show in the world a local German event? Clearly Microsoft still doesn't get it... If you know German you can learn more about Microsoft's presence at CeBIT - in context of Windows Mobile- here. Some highlights:
On top of Microsoft's official activities at CeBIT there will be also Windows Mobile user group meeting, also generally designed only for German speaking people ("nur für Deutsche"): Hall 1, room "Paris", time: March 12, Saturday, between 12:30 and 15:00. More info about it here. CeBIT is a huge event, a gigantic event. Due to central location of Hannover - a city where CeBIT takes place - many people from all over a Europe and also from other continents, are coming to CeBIT. Microsoft this year again is squandering opportunity to increase Windows Mobile acceptance among end users.
In picture above you can observe "2-tables strong Windows Mobile presentation" - the same 2 tables were visible at Microsoft's stand at CeBIT 2004 and at CeBIT 2003 - will we see this pathetic "2 table strong" Windows Mobile presentation again at CeBIT 2005? Very likely. A word of advice: don't be discouraged by Microsoft's mistaken presence at CeBIT ! Although Microsoft's presence at CeBIT 2005 again is a big failure, many other vendors however will be presenting Windows Mobile phones, to just mention a few, it will be:
