GPRS Traffic Counter by Efficasoft released for Microsoft Smartphone March 10, 2005 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Due to the fact that Microsoft is very American-centric and has little idea about situation in other countries, it decided not to put GPRS counter in the Microsoft Smartphone platform (and in Pocket PC phone platform too) - after all in USA there are many tariffs that offer flat rate Internet access, and in this case GPRS counter is simply useles... therefore many other 3rd party companies have released GPRS counter programs for Microsoft Smartphone and here comes yet another one! The Smartphone GPRS Traffic Counter v1.2 by Efficasoft, allows you to monitor GPRS data usage both graphically and numerically on your smartphone, thereby giving you more control on your mobile phone bill. Written in native C code, the Smartphone GPRS Traffic Counter is less than 50KB in size and is especially designed to consume minimum system resources. Some Orange smartphones (and maybe some others) have restricted the access to GPRS statistics. If the Smartphone GPRS Traffic Counter keeps asking you to setup monitor connection, or never responds to data traffic, it means that Smartphone GPRS Traffic Counter cannot be used on your device. In this case, please restart your phone before uninstalling the application. Note: even some "fully unlocked" Orange smartphones disallow connection monitoring. We strongly suggest you try it before you buy it. To learn more, to buy it (price: $5.95) or to download trial version, click here. Conclusion: since in EU and in many other countries outside of USA still there is no flat rate access to Internet (for example: for 20 USD you can download as much as you want and don't be afraid of overcharging) and by using GPRS you are very often in danger of getting charged big money - if you don't keep an eye on the GPRS traffic... this counter can be money saver...
