CPTools for Microsoft Smartphone released March 14, 2005 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Microsoft has released Windows Mobile smartphone platform as a very crippled form of Pocket PC - another Windows Mobile platform. So crippled that it lacks many important applications (MS Reader, Terminal Services Client, Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, etc.). It also didn't occur to the (apparently overpaid) people at Microsoft to implement such basic function as "copy & paste". Fortunately one guy in China made a program:
... that solves this gigantic problem, problem that Microsoft failed to comprehend and to solve, and he sells this program for one dollar: Add Copy Paste function for Smartphone This product requires a registration key to unlock the full version. After purchase, your registration key will be delivered by WWN (the developer) within 2 business days. Email is the typical delivery method. The software must be installed in the memory, not Storage Card. You need to restart your phone after installation. To buy this program (price: one dollar), to download trial version or to learn more click here. Conclusions: unfortunately Microsoft is absolutely complacent and even now, 3 years after release of Microsoft Smartphone, it is missing many features existing in Pocket PC. However this summer a new wave of Microsoft smartphone powered phones is being released and they have display with QVGA resolution (240x320 instead of 176x220) so the common excuse that Microsoft employees are giving as a reason of crippling the smartphone platform (i.e. "it has too little resolution! by the way: we don't listen to you, we listen only to our MVPs") - will disappear... will it ever stop Microsoft from being complacent?
