CeBIT 2005 coverage: 4 new Microsoft Smartphone cell phones from Tatung March 18, 2005 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Another company presenting Microsoft smartphone cell phones at CeBIT 2005 was Tatung:
There is no much information about these phones available: 1.3 megapixel camera, mini-SD card slot and GSM quand-band. It looks like these phones are not even on sale anywhere yet, and Tatung wants to find some operator or bigger brand company that would sell these phones in USA or EU. Usually ability of Chinese/Taiwanese manufacturers to sell phones under their brands is very limited... High resolution photos of all 4 new smartphones from Tatung follow...
Please note: in past we have observed several Microsoft Smartphone and Pocket PC phones at CeBIT - at Asian manufacturers - and many of these phones never reached end customer - neither in EU or USA, nor in Asia. Clearly manufacturing prototypes is something that many hardware manufacturers in Asia can do, but marekting and finding partners to sell these phones - is totally different story and as example of MiTAC shows: even if given company has potential, it treats smarpthones as marginal business and has no marketing power nor persistence in releasing new models, or in other words: no chances to succeed...
