GPS PI for Pocket PC phones released - location services based on GPS, without location servers March 25, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. This program is not free but if you need to know where your friends or co-workers are located and you wouldn't like to spend many thousand dollars for Microsoft's MapPoint Location server, then this program may be perfect for you. This program makes use of GPS location data. With this program you can find your friends geographically and follow their positions on the map or on the satellite photo. GPS PI exchanges geographical location information by SMS or by e-mail (over GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi). GPS PI is designed to work fine with Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition for Pocket PC, so it is working fine in portrait and landscape screen orientations as well as in square resolutions. The "PI" in "GPS PI" comes from the mathematics and denotes the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter or in other words the ratio itself : a transcendental number having a value to eight decimal places of 3.14159265.
