Rumor: Motorola China official admits that Motorola MPx Pocket PC phone is cancelled in Mainland China area ! April 12, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Could it be that it is a sign that Motorola MPx will be cancelled also in USA and EU? 
(on photo above, from the top to down: Motorola MPx - the dual hinge Pocket PC phone from Motorola, HTC Magician [aka T-Mobile MDA Compact, i-mate JAM, etc]; on the screen of Motorola MPx you can see Wi-Fi network selection dialog) Apparently Motorola China official admitted the cancellation of sales of Motorola MPx in Mainland China area. The cancellation is partly due to the different Wi-Fi standard between USA and China. Although Motorola China prepared to launch the phone, the plan was still finally cancelled by the headquarters of Motorola in USA. But the plan to launch MPx220 in Mainland China is not endangered. Also in Taiwan the big scale launch of Motorola MPx is not planed and only 2000 - 3000 units would be sold in the near future there. Regarding Hong Kong (that now is officially part of the Mainland China) situation with Motorola MPx is such: no news on the launch of MPx - no news at all. The Motoroal MPx200 is selling in Hong Kong however quite well and Motorola Hong Kong is still arranging many advertisment campaigns to promote MPx220. Recenty, black color option has been added too. It is worth noting that that in the Motorola website Press zone, MOTO MPx disappeared from the 2004 product lists! * * * * * As you can see above situation with Motorola MPx in China is gloomy! In EU Dangaard was supposed to distribute Motorola MPx to local distributors, but still is not doing it! In USA Motorola MPx is available also in small amounts and very high prices (over 1000 USD!) - rather as small series model or engineering samples. Conclusion: Motorola cancelled in past Motorola MPx100 phone that vice president of Motorola was showing to us in an exclusive interview during 3GSM World Congress ! It looks like now it is turn of Motorola MPx and it will be probably cancelled too! After all it had only 32 MB of RAM: 
... and very slow processor... so probably Motorola wants to release new model of Pocket PC phone - based on RAZR V3 design - i.e. very stylish and very flat - instead of releasing Motorola MPx that is already outdated and in fact is not particularly stylish...
