Photo Review : Orange SPV M500 - the mini Pocket PC phone arrives to Orange April 16, 2005 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R. Here we present photo review of Orange SPV M500 - now available in Netherlands but soon also in UK! The "all new" Orange SPV M500 was released officialy yesterday (Friday the 15th of April) in the Netherlands. It looked poor on the Orange website, it looks better in these pictures, it looks great in real life! Regarding technical specifications: they are the same as the T-Mobile MDA Compact and the Vodafone VPA Compact: built-in Bluetooth, built-in megapixel camera, SD card slot (SDIO compatible so you can use SDIO Wi-Fi cards in it), processor: 416 MHz. The photo review of Orange SPV M500 follows. Although internally the same as T-Mobile MDA Compact or i-mate JAM, externally this phone has different looks - some may say it looks better:
On the back there is a megapixel camera and (covered here) a slot for external antenna:
Here is a photo of the side of Orange SPV M500 where you can see (from top to bottom): stylus (in inserted position), power switch (that allows you to switch off display when pressed shortly - so that you don't have to worry that something in your pocket will touch the touch screen) and infrared port:
On this photo you can see (from top to bottom): a button that invokes camera application, volume control slider, a button that invokes notes (audio recoding plus notes) application:
On this photo you can see (from top to bottom): another view on the stylus (inserted) and SD card slot (SDIO compatible and Wi-Fi cards work for sure with it):
On this photo you can see (from top to bottom): mini-USB connector (covered) and stereo headset connector (covered):
... and you can observe that there is now a cover over these 2 connectors - such cover is not available in T-Mobile MDA Compact or i-mate JAM! Conclusion: why internally the same as older incarnations of HTC Magician, externally the Orange SPV M500 seems to be more developed, more sophisticated. This phone is a very good news for people who have contract with Orange, because they will not have to buy HTC Magician for full price but will be able to get it with GSM subscription much cheaper!
