For developers: Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 released by Microsoft - includes device development for both Native and Managed development April 19, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 is now available. It is not final version yet, but you can get it now for free in DVD or CD-ROM format.
Of course Visual Studio 2005 full version is not available yet and developers must stick with Visual Studio .NET 2003 if they want to develop with non-Beta products, but with Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 you can get much better impression of what is to come. Since Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 has been just released, we can't say whether emulators for Windows Mobile code name "Magneto" are included with this release, but one is for sure: it supports development not only for server side (web application with ASP .NET) but also Windows XP application development and strong support for Windows Mobile development! Microsoft also recommends giving feedback about this Beta 2: This build will work great for device development for both Native and Managed development. The Help about will show Beta 2 40215.45 as the build number for Beta 2. We will look foward to your feedback on developing for devices. To log bugs / suggestion you should use The Product Feedback Center and for general discussions you can use the Smart Devices Forums. Please note: native development means binary code usually written with C++ and managed development is usually done with C# (read: "c sharp") or Visual Basic .NET and runs inside of .NET virtual machine (works a bit similarly like Java but is superio technologically to Java).
