Orange France releases ROM upgrade for Orange SPV C500 with Windows Media Player 10 ! April 19, 2005 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R. Orange is a European (mainly) cellular network operator and despite the fact that Orange UK is the biggest operator in UK, in fact Orange is owned by French company France Telecom, so no wonder that this groundbreaking ROM upgrade was released first in France, not in UK.
Why groundbreaking? Because it is the first ROM upgrade for any Microsoft Smartphone that replaces Windows Media Player 9 with Windows Media Player 10. By now owners of Orange SPV C500 phone were stuck with outdated version of Windows Mobile operating system. Outdated mainly because it didn't have Windows Media Player 10 (WMP10) but only the outdated Windows Media Player 9. By now the only way to get WMP10 was to use hacked ROM that consisted partly of ROM dump from Audiovox STM 5600 (Windows Mobile operating system) smartphone from USA and partly from ROM dump from Orange SPV C500 (GSM radio part). WMP10 brings improvements in usability plus support for Microsoft's latest DRM (Digital Rights Management) for music downloads! To learn more about this ROM upgrade click here. Direct download link is here. We advice you not to use this ROM upgrade if you have Orange SPV C500 from UK! However if you would really like to try it, then here you can get detailed instructions and support how to do it - however it is not for smartphone beginners!
