Wi-Fi Companion program for Pocket PC now available for sale May 03, 2005 [Wireless (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ...)] | By Edward J. R. If you have Pocket PC PDA or Pocket PC phone with built-in Wi-Fi then either it uses Microsoft's original Wi-Fi software or it has additional drivers and utilities from a company that delivers the Wi-Fi circuitry for given Pocket PC. Clearly Socket Communication is not selling enough SDIO Wi-Fi cards (after all now more and more Pocket PCs have built-in Wi-Fi and thus no need for Wi-Fi cards), so they decided to sell their Wi-Fi software separately from SDIO Wi-Fi cards! Wi-Fi Companion Socket Wi-Fi Companion is an intuitive and graphical utility that displays your connection properties at a glance. Tap on icons to quickly check network connectivity, browse the web, find WLANs in range or edit profiles. There’s even a Power Save utility, so you can adjust the power settings when using battery power. Basic features: Wi-Fi companion enables users with Friendly, easy-to-use interface for WLAN connectivity. The intuitive graphics will show important favorite connection so users do not have to enter wireless connection details every time when they are in WLAN proximity. Advanced features: Ping utility enables users to check network connectivity with other device or host network. TraceRt will enable users to identify number hops to connect to internet.
