New Beta 2 of John Cody Alerts released - Reminder and Timer Manager for Smartphone
May 12, 2005 [MS Smartphone] | By Edward J. R.

This product is currently in Final Beta Test, so you can still test it for free before final release. Information from the developer follows.

Some of the cool new features of Beta 2:

** Shadow Appointments! ** can now be created for any time-based (date/time or count-down) alert. What this means is that a duplicate (silent) "appointment" is created within pocket outlook in your phone that exactly matches the date, time and title of the alerts you setup in John Cody's Alerts! This has the advantage of allowing you to see upcoming alerts on the home screen of your Smartphone!!! And, the alerts will sync over to you desktop's Outlook calendar :)

** Event Triggers ** Instead of specifying a date or time when an alert should "trigger", you can now specify to have an alert to trigger when one of the below "Events" occurs:

- Power on your phone

- Dock your phone to a desktop PC

- When ActiveSync completes a sync operation

- When the device's Timezone changes

So, you ask how can these events be useful? Well, consider the example that you want to setup an alert to remind you to do something when you get back to your office, but you don't know exactly what time that will be...No problem! Just setup a new "Event" alert to trigger when your phone "Docks with a PC". Then, as soon as you get back to your office and dock you phone, the alert will sound! You can even Snooze a non-event alert to trigger when one of these events occurs.

** You can now specify different "Actions" that the alert should do when it triggers, including sending an SMS message! Configure an alert to automatically send an SMS message, such as "Happy Birthday" at whatever date or time you specify.
