Handango launches RSS feeds May 16, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. Now that both Motricity (owner of Smartphone.net and PocketGear.com) and Handango offer similar commisions to developers, they are fighting with each other on features. Although Motrocity also has RSS feeds, they are hidden and not known to wide public (just to partner websites - affiliates), Handango offers RSS feeds to everybody: Handango writes: You may have noticed a new orange XML button in the footer of our pages announcing the introduction of RSS feeds to Handango. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a standard XML format for web-based information. RSS readers are applications that automatically collect information feeds in categories and from sources specifically selected by the user. Customers using a newsreader can access these feeds on their PCs or on their mobile devices. With the feeds, you can add a top ten list of apps by platform, promote new applications, offer lists of all-time best sellers, and more! To see our list of available feeds, click here. Also, if you have developed a newsreader, you can incorporate these feeds into your application. If you are interested in doing this, please email partners@handango.com because we would love to feature your application. So now you can add to your favorite news reader URLs of feeds for example for new Pocket PC applications or for new MS Smartphone applications and even without visting Handango website you will be able to notice new software additions to Handango catalog! Apart from "New Titles" (mentioned above) Handango also offers RSS feeds for: "Best Sellers", "Top Downloads", "Updated Titles", "Classics", "Freeware", and some other. Each feed is limited to specific platform. Please note that there are several RSS readers both Pocket PC and MS Smartphone - some of them are also free. You can also download RSS reader for Windows XP, for example this one (free). With RSS reader you will be able to poll periodically above mentioned feeds and thus get latest additions - new titles for example - pushed to your computer or to your mobile device!
