Trend Micro beta testing new antivirus for Windows Mobile May 26, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. Although Windows Mobile PDAs and phones are much less susceptible to virus programs than Symbian phones, however here comes another anti-virus program for Windows Mobile: TMMS 2.0! If you have Windows Mobile based Pocket PC phone or smartphone, then you can sign up and start testing it right now!
Information from Trend Micro follows. * * * * * Trend Micro is signing up testers for the next iteration of its mobile antivirus - Trend Micro Micro Mobile Security (TMMS) 2.0. TMMS 2.0 contiues support for Windows Mobile 2003/2003SE for Smartphone and Windows Mobile 2003/2003SE for PocketPC Phone Edition. Users interested in testing should visit https://www.trendbeta.com/index.php?get=37 to sign up to beta test TMMS 2.0. Trend Micro has also launched a virus encyclopedia intended for mobile device screens that shows virus information affecting handheld devices as well as general virus outbreaks that might affect PCs. This can be viewed at www.trendmicro.com/wap (viewable also from a PC screen). What is "new" in this resource is its comprehensiveness along with the design for microbrowsers. Note that Trend Micro intends to extend TMMS 1.x to 30 September 2005. When Trend Micro originally launched TMMS 1.0 in December 2004, Trend Micro intended to migrate customers to TMMS 2.0 by the end of June 2005. Trend Micro has decided to extend TMMS 1.x to the end of September to facilitate the transition in a smooth fashion. Extending TMMS 1.x requires no changes on the part of existing users - it will happen automatically when subscribers update their pattern files over the air (OTA) in late May or June. TMMS 1.x will cease functioning at the end of September 2005, by which time users will have had adequate time to migrate to TMMS 2.0. TMMS 2.0 will have a price associated with it and will be available through your favorite online webstores. Trend Micro will be updating its websites shortly with the new TMMS 1.x expiry date and new TMMS 1.x executables. Credit: Todd Thiemann from Trend Micro.
