BT will use Windows Mobile for trials of TV-on-mobiles service June 21, 2005 [General] | By Edward J. R. At first it will be just a limited trial by BT (British Telecom - giant telecommunications company from UK), where selected testers will get special handsets (powered by Windows Mobile!), that will support digital broadcasting and BT's new BT Livetime service. Triallists will either get a Windows smartphone or a Windows portable media player to watch the channels. Taiwanese hardware firm HTC will make the smartphone prototypes for the service. Conclusion: custom-made Windows Mobile powered phones made by HTC have been selected for a reason - they are clearly better than this what Nokia can offer in this area - particularly the over-hyped Nokia 7710, that was conceived for these purposes, but obviously is not good enough for BT.
